Mission, Goals & Values

 

At MS 358, we support student learning through rigorous instruction that incorporates passionate speaking, purposeful writing, powerful presentations, and digital literacy through S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). By providing a safe, nurturing environment, we will support growth in all students take intellectual risks, think critically and work collaboratively to solve real world problems. As future leaders of the 21st century, our students will purposefully engage parents, the local community, and stakeholders as they progress on the continuum of college and career readiness and beyond.

 

 

MS 358 students will be challenged to solve problems efficiently and effectively, think critically, practice advocacy, develop research and discovery skills, work in teams and communicate effectively. This is known as “S.T.A.R.T”:

At MS 358, we believe that students learn best when they are able to apply their learning to real-life situations and problems. When students have opportunities to access learning (content) and transfer that knowledge to the appropriate setting (context) it is evident that new learning has taken place. We believe that this new learning that students experience is best communicated in the following ways through our 3P learning philosophy , “ Passionate speaking, Purposeful writing, and Powerful presentations.” Our guides for supporting the vision of our 3P Philosophy enables students to articulate new learning through speaking and writing. ​

 

We also encourage students to consistently live up to the Core Values of our school. Through our acronym of "F.I.R.E", students demonstrate Fellowship, Integrity, Resiliency and Excellence each day. ​
